No colorized picture can replace the original black and white photo, but each will give you a new perspective on how in the past, people used to see the world.  If color film were available, they would surely use it.  Colorizing does not intend to replace the original black and white photo, only offering a new perspective — to help people of today.... coming closer to the past.
